From the Pastor
Rev. Jeff Cook ![]() These are exciting times at Tennille United Methodist Church. God is moving in our midst and deserves our praise! How is God moving in our midst? 1) We have just finished our second series of Wednesday Bible studies 2) We have wonderful Sunday School classes at 9:45 a.m.) as our church is hungry to grow in relationship with Jesus Christ. 2) Our first Movie Night was a success allowing us to fellowship with one another, strengthening our community. 3) Our Bread of Life and Feed My Sheep ministries continue to be an avenue for us to serve others in the name of Jesus. 4) The United Methodist Women’s Circles continue to offer great opportunities for spiritual growth and service to the women of our church. 5) Look around and you will see the progress being made in renovating the old Sunday School wing. These rooms are almost ready for action, giving us more space to do vital ministry. 6) We have a Young Adults group meeting each Sunday evening at 6:00 pm. These are just a few examples of how God is moving in our midst. The mission of our church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. What a worthy mission that we are all called to participate in as Christians! Each of us should strive to be more faithful disciples. Remember, our relationship with Christ is a journey in which we are to grow throughout our lifetime. I encourage everyone involved with our church to be involved in some form of discipleship training. What opportunities are available? Bible Study, Sunday School, and UMW all provide opportunities to learn about our faith. Fellowship opportunities such as Movie Night and service opportunities such as Bread of Life and Feed My Sheep strengthen our community and our faith. Look for these monthly opportunities on the calendar in our newsletter. In addition to our responsibility to grow as disciples, we are to help those outside of the church to become disciples. This involves inviting others to church. God is preparing us for this mission as we speak. So I have a proposal. Remember this phrase: Each one reach One. As Christians, we are the expression of God’s love. We are called to share this love. I am asking each person to commit to asking one person to come to worship or join them in an activity of the church. Also, commit to pray for that person daily. God is working in our midst and is ready to do more than we can imagine. Let us be open to God’s continued work in and through us. In Christ, Jeff Cook, Pastor |
